Located in Pälkäne, near the village of Kuohijoki on the lakeshore, Camp FinLake offers unique accommodation experiences in an idyllic rural setting during the summer. In our cozy cabins, you can enjoy a restful night’s sleep surrounded by nature.

Our summer bistro, open on weekends, welcomes passersby, locals, and holidaymakers in the area. On the terrace, you can indulge in delicious dishes inspired by German cuisine, perhaps accompanied by a glass of wine.

Thanks to our location on the shore of Lake Kuohijärvi, we are also an excellent stop for boaters and anyone out on the water. You can recognize our dock by the German flag on the shore.

Cabin Stay – Peaceful Nature and Authentic Atmosphere

Imagine waking up to birdsong, fresh lake air, and a silence you won’t find in the city. Camp FinLake’s cabin accommodation offers a truly authentic summer experience – simple, peaceful, and in harmony with nature.

Our five cozy cabins are located in the courtyard near a former barn, creating a unique and atmospheric rural setting. The old barn has been renovated into a functional main building, with guest facilities on the ground floor and a lounge area and summer bistro upstairs.

Comfort in the Heart of Nature

Despite the traditional surroundings, everyday comforts are close at hand. During your stay, you’ll have access to:

Clean and comfortable shower and toilet facilities
A lakeside barrel sauna
A small kitchenette (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and kettle)

SUMMER BISTRO

Our summer bistro, located in the loft of a former barn, is where Camp FinLake’s German host creates delicious dishes for every taste. The menu features German classics such as Wiener schnitzel, currywurst, and Berlin-style potato salad. For those with a sweet tooth, we also offer traditional German cakes.

The bistro is fully licensed, so you can enjoy your meal with a selection of German beers and wines.

Our menu evolves with inspiration, and from time to time we also offer special dishes alongside the regular menu. We share updates about these treats on Facebook and Instagram—be sure to follow our channels to stay informed!

A stay in a cabin is more than just accommodation – it’s an experience. Your day at Camp FinLake can be as active or as relaxing as you wish.

Activities On Site

Our lakeside location provides the perfect setting to enjoy the Finnish summer. Take a refreshing swim at our private beach or go rowing on the lake. You can also spend your time enjoying outdoor activities such as pétanque, Mölkky, table tennis (weather permitting), or disc golf.

Fishing equipment is available on request—please note that a permit is required for rod fishing. For an additional fee, guests can also rent a canoe.

Indoors, you’ll find activities in the main building loft (the former barn), where you can play table football, billiards, darts, and board games—or simply relax with a good book in a cozy corner.

Things to Do Nearby

The surrounding area also offers a wide range of activities. About 3 km away, in the village of Kuohijoki, you’ll find a sandy beach with pier as well as a sports field. There you can play football or volleyball, try disc golf, work out on outdoor fitness equipment, or climb the fitness stairs.

During the summer, the village hosts various local events where you can experience an authentic Finnish atmosphere. On Saturday evenings, it’s worth heading to Aslak and The Eskimos Klubi, where live music and a unique setting create a memorable night. The venue also hosts the now-legendary charity mini-festival August Rock, with ticket sales donated to the child psychiatry clinic at Tampere University Hospital.

The nearest grocery, Puutikkalan kesäpuoti, is located about 10 km away. For hiking enthusiasts, excellent destinations include Evo Hiking Area and Laipanmaa Hiking Area, both approximately 35 km from Camp FinLake. If you’re looking for more action, the Sappee area offers a variety of activities and experiences about 30 km away.

OUR STORY

In August 2014, we flew from Germany to Finland to view a property for sale called Elotarha—and fell in love at first sight. The former barn, the peaceful natural surroundings by a crystal-clear lake, and yet being only a two-hour drive from Helsinki Airport made the decision easy.

Later that same year, we moved to our new home in Kuohijoki. At the time, we didn’t yet realize what a unique and welcoming village we had arrived in—but we knew that our decision to move from Germany to Finland, into the heart of the most beautiful Lakeland nature, was the right one.

Our original idea was to offer accommodation and dining services for German junior football teams. However, there was still much to be done. The first spring and summer were spent renovating and building: the ground floor of the former barn was transformed into shower and toilet facilities, while the loft became a dining and lounge area for guests. There was no shortage of work, as our first test group from Germany arrived already in early August.

During the first summers, Camp FinLake mainly hosted international groups with accommodation and meals included. During the COVID years, Finnish guests also discovered us, and we adapted our cabins to better suit couples.

In the summer of 2017, we opened a summer café where we served German cakes—and a few bratwursts. The concept gradually grew, and in 2020 the café evolved into a summer bistro. It has since become a particularly dear part of Camp FinLake, as cooking is one of our greatest passions.

The football training camps have since been left behind, and today we focus on log cabin accommodation, the summer bistro, and private events.

We hope that during your stay at Camp FinLake you can leave the rush of everyday life behind and enjoy the peace of nature—and that our love for this place is something you’ll feel too.
